OMG , it's soooo good looking !!!!!!! How would you rate the picture quality on a scale of 1 to 10 ? Could you post a screenshot please!!!!? and what are the (3?) special features ?

I would rate the picture quality on a DVD format as a 9. I wish it was in high definition as I would have given it a 10 instead :) Overall, it has a very good picture quality. Unfortunately, I do not have a screenshot utility on my PC to capture one for you. There is a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes of special features -
1. The Making of East of Eden (01:06:17) 2. Spotlight on Location (00:08:33) 3. Behind The Scenes (00:05:38)

I know eh !! I so wish it was released in 720p HD, I wonder why the korean version is much more expensive. Can koreans really afford to buy 137$ of dvd ? People would think we are crazy to do that - in the US

so since it's a 9, It must play good on a HD tv (I was kinda bummed about this....I didn't want somehing blurry or similar to the taiwan copies)

Lol it's ok about the screenshot I just wanted to see the frame size, but thanks now I can buy it

I'm using an up-conversion 1080p DVD player that helps make it more clearer. You can assure and trust MBC America to release quality DVD. Based on the spec, it's a 16:9 Widescreen format.

After reading that you rate the picture quality as 9, now I am wondering if mine is a defective copy. I almost wanted to return for exchange. Really want to own a good set of EOE dvd, but somehow I'm disappointed with the quality and packaging. I own other original movie and drama dvds but this is the first time I felt cheated.

I'm sorry to hear that. I just confirmed again with other discs and the picture quality is pretty clear in comparison with other DVD drama set. It's by far superior than the one from Malaysia, China, etc. Since those are the ones that they squeezed about 4-5 episodes into one DVD with higher compression rate, the picture quality becomes poor. This MBC America is only squeezing 3 episodes into 1 DVD. I'm using an up-conversion DVD player with an LCD TV. In comparison to my other drama DVD set, it's the same quality as with the other best picture quality set. Do you have any pictures so that I can make some comparison?

I feel sorry for myself too T.T I felt that the color is not vivid enough, it's more towards yellow/brown? I tried my TV color settings, but no improvement. I guess I'm just expecting it to be the same as what I got from the raw videos. I just have to accept it.

I want to do screencapture for you, but but but... my dvd writer can't read the dvd. Can't get it work on another machine too. Any idea how I can overcome this?

As for the coloring, the drama was designed to take place in the 60s through the 90s. The show is not supposed to take place in today's current time. The coloring is going to be different versus other drama that is filmed in 2000 era.

Since I do not know your current system setting, I'm going to make some suggestion. Most computer DVD-ROM is region-code, but you should have received a message about changing it(usually you can change the region about 5 times). I would suggest getting a copy of the software called AnyDVD (you can google it for more information) as this software allows you to play all DVDs from different region. Also, have you tried to put another USA region DVD and test it? If that works, then there's no need for AnyDVD software. Good luck.

I just got mine and you were right ! It play pretty awesome even on an HDTV !

awww quincy ! you should join soompi and participate in the korean drama dvd box set thread. Hong Kong version is always crap ! I hate how they have the worst subtitles and the 2 last episodes are at the lowest quality. IMO it seems CDs are expensive in HK since they lower the amount every time. Then they cut the ratio to 4:3 =(

Anyway, I sugges you try selling it on ebay if you don't want it or you should try returning it ? The MBC America version is really good even if I appreciate the pckg of the korean version more .

Thx for the description MinMayBee ! I'm so glad I found this site. It's hard to see actual pics of the product. Now I only hope a company (YA or even PMP malaysia) will take Temptation of Wife >.<
